Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid)

$0.00$45.00

Folic acid, also known as Vitamin B9, is an essential B vitamin that plays an important role in many parts of the body. It is necessary for cell growth and division, formation of red blood cells, and synthesizing and metabolizing DNA. A folic acid test is used to assess a person’s folic acid levels, and can help detect low or high levels of the vitamin which can indicate a nutritional deficiency or certain medical conditions. Low levels may lead to anemia, neural tube defects, and some types of cancer, while high levels may point to excessive vitamin supplement ingestion or certain genetic conditions such as Down’s Syndrome.

Description

Vitamin B9, also known as Folic Acid, is an essential B vitamin. Folic acid tests are used to assess whether a person is getting enough of this important vitamin. Folic acid is important for many parts of the body, including cell growth and division, formation of red blood cells, and synthesizing and metabolizing DNA. Without adequate folic acid, certain medical conditions may develop, such as anemia, neural tube defects, and even certain types of cancer. Folic acid tests provide important information about a person’s health, as low levels of the vitamin can indicate underlying medical conditions and inadequate nutrition. High levels of folic acid can also be of concern, as it may indicate a vitamin supplement ingestion that has resulted in excessive levels of this vitamin. Additionally, high folic acid levels could signify certain types of cancer or genetic conditions such as Down’s Syndrome.
