TSH w/ rflx to Free T4

The TSH w/ reflex to Free T4 tests measure the levels of two hormones, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and free T4 (thyroxine), in the body. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and its main function is to control the release of hormones from the thyroid gland and maintain a healthy metabolic rate. Free T4, on the other hand, is the most active form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine and is responsible for the regulation of the body’s metabolism. By testing the levels of both hormones, these tests can help assess an individual’s overall thyroid health. In the Hormone Replacement Clinic, they are used both to ensure a proper pre-treatment hormone balance and to monitor the progress of hormone replacement treatments.

Description

TSH w/ reflex to Free T4 tests measure the levels of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and free T4 (thyroxine) in the body. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and is used to control the release of hormones from the thyroid gland. It is important for regulating the body’s metabolism and controlling the rate at which cells use energy from food. Free T4 is the most active form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine and is the main hormone responsible for regulating the body’s metabolism. The TSH w/ rflx to Free T4 tests are used to assess an individual’s overall thyroid health as they measure the level of hormones present in the body. If TSH levels are too low or too high, this can be indicative of an underlying health problem and should be further investigated. In the Hormone Replacement Clinic, the tests are used to ensure the patient’s hormones are properly balanced before beginning a hormone replacement therapy. They are also important for monitoring the patient’s progress once a hormone replacement treatment has begun.
