Description

Triiodothyronine (T3), Free tests measure the amount of free T3 hormone, which is a form of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine, in the blood. This test is used to assess the amount of free circulating thyroid hormone that can enter the cell and is important when evaluating thyroid problems and disorders. An imbalance of thyroid hormones can lead to a variety of symptoms and complications, such as fatigue, difficulty losing weight, anxiety, and an impaired immune system. These tests are used to diagnosis, monitor, and measure treatment outcomes for conditions like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and goiter (enlarged thyroid gland). By measuring the levels of free T3 in the blood, doctors can determine whether the individual has too much, too little, or the correct amount of thyroid hormones in their body.
