Description

Existing Viking Weight Loss Patient Adding HRT – Male is a series of blood tests that are crucial for monitoring and managing Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in men, especially when combined with weight loss objectives. Here’s a straightforward explanation of each test and its significance:

Estradiol: This test measures the level of estradiol, a form of estrogen, in the body. Even in men, estrogen is important for bone health and mood regulation. Monitoring estradiol helps in balancing hormones during HRT.

Testosterone, Total: This test measures the total amount of testosterone, a key male hormone. Monitoring testosterone levels is central to HRT, affecting everything from muscle mass to mood.

PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen): This test measures PSA levels, which can indicate prostate health. It’s important because some forms of HRT can affect the prostate.

Calcitonin, Serum: Calcitonin is involved in calcium and bone metabolism. This test helps in monitoring bone health, especially crucial in HRT.
