Description

The purpose of the Male: WL Panel, especially in the context of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT):

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) 14: This panel tests for a variety of factors including kidney and liver function, electrolyte and fluid balance, and glucose levels. It’s a broad measure of general health and can indicate how the body is responding to HRT.

CBC (Complete Blood Count) with Diff/Plate: This test measures different types of blood cells. It can identify a range of conditions from infections to anemia and is useful in monitoring overall health during HRT.

Lipid Panel, Standard: This measures cholesterol levels in the blood, including LDL (“bad” cholesterol) and HDL (“good” cholesterol). Hormones can affect cholesterol levels, so this is crucial for heart health monitoring during HRT.

TSH (Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone): TSH regulates the thyroid gland, which affects metabolism. This test is important as HRT can influence thyroid function, impacting energy levels and weight.

Calcitonin, Serum: This hormone helps regulate calcium and bone metabolism. Its levels can be important in the context of HRT, as hormonal changes can impact bone health.

Hemoglobin A1c: This test shows the average level of blood sugar over the past 2-3 months. It’s important for men undergoing HRT, especially those with or at risk for diabetes, as hormone levels can affect blood sugar control.

Triiodothyronine (T3), Free: This test measures T3, an active thyroid hormone. It’s essential for understanding thyroid health, which can be affected by HRT, influencing energy levels and metabolism.

Thyroid Antibodies: These tests check for antibodies against thyroid proteins, which can indicate autoimmune thyroid disease. Such conditions can be relevant in HRT, as they might affect how the body responds to hormonal treatments.

In summary, the “Male Weight Loss Panel” is a comprehensive set of tests designed to monitor various health parameters that are important for men undergoing hormone replacement therapy. These tests help ensure that HRT is safe and effective, and they assist in managing potential side effects or complications related to hormone therapy. Understanding these tests can help patients better grasp the changes happening in their bodies and the importance of monitoring their health during treatment.
